The light in the dark

By Aine Belton
Aside from the sparkles, cheer, warmth, and merriment of the holidays, winter  is a darker time of year, physically at least.

This can symbolise times in our life that are also darker; times of challenge, or change, where things die, are lost, erupt, or disintegrate. Times of wounding even.

It during these times that we can search for and connect more to the light within, or be 'broken open' to receive it.
As Rumi writes: "The wound is the place where the Light enters you"
Sometime pain surfaces before joy is dealt, tears may fall so the snow can melt and more sun be felt.

Now, this is not to say that struggle or pain by any means are necessary for growth.
They are not. You can more easily grow through love, joy and curiosity.
But, change can be uncomfortable or painful at times. We may fear it, it may involve loss, confusion, grief, and the facing of our shadows.
Yet these times of transition can be valuable periods of growth, healing and transformation in our life and allow room for more - more of our truer self and greater potential, more love, and the grander callings of our soul.

Change is inevitable.
Lessons from a butterfly: embrace change and don't be shy.
Letting go can be an important and necessary part of life, and every ending allows for a new beginning.

To create the space for dreams-come-true, you may need to release in your life that which doesn't serve you. This may feel like a painful process at the time, but can lead to freedom and greater happiness.

"What the caterpillar sees as the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly" ~ Richard Bach

If you resist change which is for your best, it may come upon you through external circumstances.

Death & birth, metaphorically speaking, can be scary, yet they are also rich in gifts and can allow for a new course aligned to your brightest destiny.

Trust and love are antidotes and healing balms. Trust in the love the universe has for you, and trust in your power as a creator.

Trust in the flow of life and the changing tides. Walk through the doors that are opening and be grateful for the ones that are closing.

Life is full of hills and valleys, highs and lows; ride the waves as you learn and grow!

Here's my motto on letting go: >>

In letting go you can only ever win, if something's for your best it will come back, if not something better will!
It is what you cling to too tightly or feel needy towards will move away from you or slip from your grip. Open your hand to instead RECEIVE. Relinquish fear and a need to control. Ironically, letting go can be the best way to hold on.

"He who kisses the joy as it flies. Lives in eternity's sun rise." ~ William Blake

Trust that the universe has your back. It wants the very best for you ever and always. Know this.

The universe is always on your side. Are you?

Sometimes what you think is for your best, isn't always from your soul's perspective.

This can be a time of year, amid the celebrations, to pause, reflect, take a breath as the world does too, and remember that love is ever with you. :)

Find that quiet place within, that still centre core where all is well, & love, peace & power dwells.

From here, seed your visions and dreams!

It is a time for renewing your energy, allowing subtle changes within, and connecting to the love and light of the divine that ever guides you.

The period before the New Year can also be a great time for letting go of what doesn't serve you (mentally, emotionally, and physically, be it habits, beliefs, attitudes, people, circumstances, etc.).

You can let go through intention, affirming in your mind, or by writing down on paper what you wish to release and burning it (safely in a fire-proof container, of course).
What don't you want to be part of next year? Draw the line! :)

Ask for help from your Higher Self and guides (such as in your mind before you sleep) to assist in the release and letting go of anything inappropriate to your consciousness. They will work with you.

Let go of who you think you are, to become who you might be.
It is so often your beliefs about yourself, others and the world that hold you back from shining, and achieving the love, happiness and success that you seek.

It is also a great time to start writing out your goals and dreams, and a wish-list for your year ahead!
Doing this alone can really boost your energy and raise your vibration, anchoring you to your bright future and allowing the reality more access tomanifesting in your life.

Love is the fastest most elegant way to change anything for the better!
There is ultimately nothing that enough love will not heal, transform and transcend.

Your intuition can be a gateways to love - to the love of the divine, and of your Higher Self - the radiant magnificent being that you really are, and the incredible love and wisdom it holds.

Be a force for love in your life - love for yourself, others and the world.
